Say it again
Sometimes we need to say something again. Or a few more times.
Between our brains and their brains, there are countless ways the message may be scrambled. How beautiful and special it is that we ever understand one another at all!
So we say it again when we aren't sure whether the idea survived its passage and to give it another chance.
Forming and articulating an original thought, even a small one, is almost always a bit messy. And it’s also often hard for listeners to understand something new on the first attempt.
Whether it's a big idea that could change a lot, or just a detail that could help avoid confusion, the communication step needs a bit of redundancy.
So we're patient and we say it again. Maybe with the same words. Or we try new ones, if the old ones weren’t our best. We try to not be irritated if they didn’t get it. We learn and adjust.
So let's say it again, kindly and clearly. With grace and patience. Maybe this time it lands.
